Twitter has come up with a new feature that will allow you to post photos to your Twitter account using a text message from your mobile phone. SMS has been quite critical to Twitter’s success since its one of the easiest ways to share information and keep up with your favorite accounts. Nearly four billion SMS messages are sent and received on Twitter every month. Now it’s possible to follow, tweet and view account info using only SMS.
To use the new photo sharing service, type out your Tweet as you normally would and then attach a photo to the message and send to Twitter. That’s all!
The new Twitter photo service is supported on : AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Cellular South in the US – Vodafone, O2 and Orange in the UK – Vodafone Italy- Rogers Communications in Canada – VIVA Bahrain – and TIM Brazil. Twitter is working with more carriers to enable their customers to share photos via text message.
Some other features have also been rolled out
The Fast Follow feature allows you to instantly receive Tweets on your phone, even if you don’t have a Twitter account, by simply sending a text message. This feature is now available globally with any carrier that offers Twitter SMS.
Twitter now allows one-word commands that can be used to get more information. For example, ‘suggest’ lets you get suggestions for accounts to follow. Sending ‘stats’ gives you your basic profile info, including your bio info, number of followers and the number of accounts you follow. Additionally, message “Help” or “Tips” to get handy Twitter SMS tips
