The tablet industry, thus far, has been dominated by Apple’s iPad since last year. It has faced limited competition since then, but now with the arrival of different tablets running on Google’s Honeycomb OS, it is expected to face tough competitions from different manufacturers even though Honeycomb tablets hasn’t had much success in the industry.
With over 30 million iPads sold worldwide, along with iPad 2, speculations have already started about the successor of the iPad 2. We have already heard the rumour of Retina Display since long but it’s still hard to believe that unless we have any official word. But now a new information has come up which suggests that iPad 3 would feature a slimmer and lighter battery than iPad 2, which means we could have a slimmer & lighter iPad 3 than iPad 2.
Apple has contracted Dynapack International Technology and Simplo Technology for the production of improved batteries for iPad 3. The iPad 3 battery module is expected to call for advanced technology making it slimmer & lighter. This could increase the production cost by 20-30% compared to the iPad 2′s battery.
Apple has been retailing it’s new products at the same price as its lower model for long, but this new move could see an increase in the price of iPad 3. The battery is expected to roll out around the fourth quarter of this year hinting the launch of iPad 3 next year.
